During class, I faced a unique challenge: I couldn’t communicate with my classmates in the usual way. Instead of talking, we had to enlarge our text on Chromebooks and hold it up for others to see. While this method worked, it was cumbersome, slow, and limited meaningful interaction. On April 3rd, 2026, I had an idea: why not create a platform that could connect us more efficiently? This idea became the foundation for RPVConnect.com, a site aimed at fostering communication among my classmates.
At first, I was eager to jump straight into the project. However, I quickly realized that I had no prior experience with web development. Fortunately, it was spring break, and I had an abundance of free time. I decided to dedicate myself fully to learning the skills I needed. For the next few days, I locked myself in a room and immersed myself in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, practicing tirelessly to build a strong foundation before starting my project.
By April 7th, I was ready to begin. I focused first on the user interface, designing a layout that would be intuitive and easy for my classmates to use. I also implemented socket functionality to allow real-time communication. That same day, I completed both the UI and the socket integration. Next, from April 8th to 9th, I worked on connecting the site to a domain I had purchased, ensuring that the prototype would be accessible online.
Finally, RPVConnect.com was complete. The project not only solved the communication problem in our class but also gave me a deep sense of accomplishment. Building the site taught me the value of patience, consistent practice, and problem-solving. I am now able to share the platform with my classmates, and I encourage anyone who finds bugs or has suggestions to click the exclamation mark on the site to provide feedback.
